Certified Salmon Safe
Founded in 1995 by an Oregon-based river and native fish protection organization, Salmon-Safe has become one of the nation's leading regional eco-labels. Erosion and runoff from hillside vineyards can bring silt into streams, reducing the ability of native salmon to survive. That's why Salmon-Safe has partnered with LIVE, VINEA, and Oregon Tilth to work with pioneering wine grape growers to protect Oregon's important salmon watersheds. Since first certifying vineyards in the Willamette Valley more than a decade ago, Salmon-Safe has certified 110 Oregon vineyards representing a third of Oregon's wine grape acreage. Look for the Salmon-Safe label on wine and you'll know that your purchase helps keep rivers clean so that salmon can spawn and thrive.
ROCO Winery is very committed to preserving the environment in any way it can. We make extra efforts to ensure that agricultural processes have little to no impact on the health and habitat of our beloved salmon population. Salmon-Safe.org, a prize fighter for the cause, honored ROCO with a certificate and acknowledgement that we meet or exceed salmon-safe standards.
International Organization for Biological Control (IOBC)
IOBC was established in 1955 to promote environmentally safe methods of pest and disease control in plant protection.
IOBC promotes the use of sustainable, environmental safe, economically feasible and socially acceptable control-methods of pests and diseases of agricultural and forestry crops. Therefore IOBC encourages collaboration in the development and promotion of Biological and Integrated Production systems. IOBC/WPRS fosters research and practical application, training and information, especially of biological methods of control, but also of all methods, including chemicals, within an integrated pest management context.
ROCO Winery firmly believes in the ideals and practices of the IOBC and makes every effort to uphold the IOBC's standards for "Integrated Organization and Integrated Pest Management".
